Safdarjung Hospital

Safdarjung Hospital, run by the central government with the Vardhman Mahavir Medical College attached, is one of the largest hospitals in Asia by patient volume — handling several million OPD visits a year.

It offers the full breadth of specialities with particularly high-volume emergency, burns and plastic surgery, orthopaedics, obstetrics and paediatrics departments. A modern emergency block and super-speciality block have significantly upgraded its infrastructure in recent years.

Care is effectively free or at nominal charges, making it the safety net for the entire region. Located on Ring Road opposite AIIMS, it is served by the AIIMS metro station and every major bus corridor in South Delhi.
